It appears that the demand for readymade clothes in India remains limited, and now some stores are switching to supplying sewing supplies. Most of the readymade clothes are not well tailored and do not fit perfectly, so most people have to get their clothes stitched by a tailor or altered to fit them properly.
Even for the readymade clothes the stitching quality will remain poor and after a few weeks the clothes will start disintegrating forcing the user to restitch the clothes. They can do so manually or using a sewing machine.
There are few affordable quality sewing machines available in India, so many people are forced to do all their stitching manually. the cheapest automatic sewing machine available locally will cost Rs 7000
